To help the Baring Foundation identify options for future funding.
For over a decade, the Baring Foundation has been funding community-led projects addressing a wide range of development needs across Africa. In 2014, it decided to review its funding – in particular, the Foundation wanted to know whether its programme would benefit from a clearer focus on a specific niche issue.
The Foundation commissioned a number of researchers to investigate potential niche areas for its future international funding. Trio Policy was commissioned to look at options in the field of peace and security. Engaging men and boys in preventing gender-based violence emerged as a key area. Trio researched current funding to this field and consulted those already working on these issues on future funding needs.
